Hardwood floors & painting in Bedford, NH
Bedford means big colonials and a lot of square footage, so our jobs here tend to be whole first floors, not single rooms.
Bedford homes are large, and the floors are a big part of what makes them feel the way they do. Most of what we do here is refinishing the entire main level of a 1980s to 2000s colonial at once: foyer, dining room, living room, kitchen, hallway, and often the stairs, sanded and finished as one continuous floor so the color and sheen match from room to room.
One recent Bedford project is a good example of doing floors and paint in one visit. The upstairs bonus room had wall-to-wall carpet over hardwood that had never been finished; we pulled the carpet, sanded it to bare wood, and finished it in a clean natural tone. Downstairs, the dining room floor was already in good shape, so we left it alone and repainted the walls from yellow to a soft white above the wainscoting. Both before-and-afters are below.

What we do in Bedford
Homes here, and what they need.
Bedford is mostly 1980s to 2010s colonials and newer custom homes off Route 101 and in the neighborhoods around Bedford Village, with some 1960s and 70s ranches and capes closer to the Manchester line. Red and white oak is standard, square footage is large, and many homes have carpeted bonus rooms and bedrooms over hardwood or over subfloor that's ready for new wood. Three-car garages make epoxy a popular add-on.
- Hardwood refinishing
Whole-first-floor refinishes, stairs included, usually in a natural or light stain.
- Flooring installation
New hardwood in carpeted bedrooms and bonus rooms, laced into the existing oak.
- Epoxy floors
Epoxy on three-car garage floors.
- Interior painting
Repainting the open main floor, trim, and tall foyers once the floors are done.

Reviews
What customers say.
“I hired Jacob and Brad to install hardwood flooring throughout my downstairs. Brad and his team were on time each day and did outstanding work. … The floors look terrific and we get compliments all the time!”
“We had prefinished hardwood floors installed in two rooms and a set of stairs with landings. Every one at LCH has been terrific to work with. The job was done within the time they said it would be.”
“They painted three rooms and buffed and coated the entire downstairs hardwood floor all in one day. They left the house cleaner than they found it and provided me extra time to get into my house to start moving in sooner than I expected.”
Questions
Bedford questions.
Do you refinish floors in Bedford, NH?
Yes. Bedford is about 25 minutes from our shop in Hudson. Whole-first-floor hardwood refinishing is our most common job there, along with new hardwood installation, LVP, epoxy garage floors, and interior painting.
Can you refinish the whole first floor at once so it all matches?
Yes, and that's the best way to do it. We sand every room and the hallway as one floor, apply the same stain or natural finish throughout, and coat it together so the color and sheen are consistent from the foyer to the kitchen.
There's carpet over hardwood upstairs. Can you refinish what's under it?
Usually. Carpet protects the wood, so floors under it are often in good shape apart from staple holes and tack strips, which sand out. The Bedford bonus room on this page is exactly that: carpet off, hardwood sanded and finished.
How long does a whole-house refinish take?
It depends on the square footage, whether you stain, and the finish you choose, but most Bedford main-floor refinishes run several days. We give you a schedule in the written proposal and keep you updated as we go.
